Canada follows in the footsteps of France, Italy, and Belgium

There were those in Paris, Rome, and Brussels, and even in Montreal, the eternal rival. But since the second half of the 2000s, Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario—which you’ll have the chance to explore during your language study trip to Canada with LEC—has also adopted the concept of the Nuit Blanche.

What can you do during Toronto's Scotiabank Nuit Blanche?

What’s on the agenda? Museums open all night long, venues dedicated to entertaining night owls, public buildings that don’t close their doors until the early morning, and a wealth of activities from dusk till dawn. In the end, nearly a hundred artistic projects were organized for the occasion!

The origins of the event

The first edition of what has since become the annual Scotiabank Nuit Blanche Toronto (named after the famous Bank of Nova Scotia, one of North America’s largest financial institutions) took place on September 30, 2006. For the inaugural edition of this internationally renowned event, some 425,000 people took to the streets of Canada’s most populous city for a wide-ranging celebration of art and culture.
