In Club 4 and Activities, we form small groups of four students. A native-speaking teacher will teach them language classes in the morning, and the students will participate in sports and cultural activities in the afternoon. In this highly supportive environment, they are constantly exposed to the language.

Accommodation

  1. With a family selected and visited by our local organizers. Learn how families are selected
  2. Two French students per family (with the option to stay with a friend). In Ireland, students are placed with either one or two French students per family, depending on your preference
  3. Families living in residential neighborhoods near the class location
  4. Full board (on weekdays, a packed lunch provided by the family at noon)

One or two French speakers per family? LEC has some advice

This question is key to making the most of your child’s stay, and the answer depends mainlyontheir motivation to goand their personality.

Our experience has led us to the following conclusion:

  • If your child is truly independent and motivated, and has already acquired a solid foundation in the language of the chosen country, they may be placed as the only French speaker in their host family.
  • However, if this is your child’s first or even second stay, or if they are not yet comfortable enough with the language, we recommend pairing them with another French-speaking child. The reassuring presence of another young person—who could, of course, be a friend (or a relative)—will help your child feel more at ease and thus support their language learning.

In England and Malta, on Club 4 trips, each young person is required to be placed with another young French person in their host family.
