Movie lovers—and those who chose to take a language study trip to Canada to practice the language of Shakespeare—were eagerly awaiting September 10. Why? Because this Thursday marks the kickoff of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival! LEC satisfies the appetite of cinema lovers by taking a moment to highlight the event…

An annual festival that began in the 1970s

The Toronto International Film Festival takes place, as its name suggests, in Toronto—a city you’ll have the chance to explore during an upcoming language study trip to Canada with LEC, in the heart of the province of Ontario. It is an annual event that has been held every September for eleven days since 1976.

A 100% film-focused, non-competitive event

The Toronto International Film Festival differs from famous events such as Cannes in that it is a non-competitive festival. While several awards are indeed presented at the end of each edition, no official list of winners is released.

The Toronto International Film Festival, the media's darling

Hailed by the renowned magazine Variety and praised by the legendary film critic Roger Ebert, the Toronto International Film Festival (to be called the Toronto International Film Festival during your language study trip to Canada) has risen to become a leading partner of Hollywood.
