Middle School Study Abroad Program in England – Manga

English and manga drawing classes at a beautiful English middle school Ages 11–14 / 14–17 – 6th through 11th grade

The Middle School – Manga (Drawing) program is designed for anyone who wants to study at a superb English middle school and, in addition to three hours of English classes per day, wishes to fully immerse themselves in their passion for manga, while enjoying a wide variety of recreational activities and evening social events.

Accommodation

  1. StunningBritish secondary schools, carefully selected by our teams
  2. Comfortable rooms with 1 to 4 beds (and sometimes 4 to 6 beds for younger children)
  3. You can stay with one or more friends
  4. On campus, high-quality sports and educational facilities: green spaces, a gym, sports fields and playgrounds, a swimming pool, a theater, etc. (depending on the location)
  5. Modern and comfortable classrooms
  6. Full board with hot meals for lunch and dinner ( on excursion days, packed lunches are provided)

 

Class

  1. 3 hours of class per day, in the morning
  2. Classes of 12 to 15 students, formed based on a placement test
  3. Interactive courses for significant improvement in both writing and speaking
  4. Practicing speaking skills to build self-confidence
  5. Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and listening comprehension
  6. Practical exercises, press reviews, discussions, role-playing, etc.
  7. Classes taught by a team consisting of an English-speaking teacher and a bilingual teacher, combining a variety of teaching approaches
  8. Submitting a trip report

 

Supervision

  1. English and French teachers and activity leaders available 24 hours a day
  2. 1 adult for every 12 children
  3. 1 French director on site, available to parents
  4. Priorities: progress in English, youth safety and well-being

Activities and Recreation

  1. 3 afternoons of manga (drawing) per week, taught in English ( see details below)
  2. 2 to 3 afternoons of recreational activities per week, led in English. Each day, the young person chooses what they’d like to do from the following options (depending on the location):

Sports: swimming, soccer, dance, volleyball, basketball, sports day, table tennis, golf, cricket, badminton, bowling, etc.
Art and leisure activities: drawing, escape games, scrapbooking, arts and crafts, etc.
Cultural tours: Oxford or Cambridge University, Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, Canterbury Cathedral, the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, etc.

  1. One day trip per week, such as to Cambridge, London, Bath, Oxford, Bristol, etc.
  2. Every evening, there are supervised activities such as: LEC parties, karaoke, trivia nights, talent shows, casino parties, giant "Draw and Win" games, BBQ parties, fashion shows, social games, and more.

Manga Theme (Artwork) in Detail

  1. 3 sessions of 3 hours each per week, in the afternoon, conducted in English
  2. A program designed for both beginner and experienced artists who dream of becoming mangaka
  3. Development of basic methods and proficiency with equipment
  4. An introduction to the essential principles of drawing and the world of manga: proportion, movement, character design, line work, composition, perspective, etc.
  5. Create your own manga character and produce a single panel, going through every step of the creative process: storyboarding, genga, panel layout, inking (Kento), coloring, pencil sketches, etc.
