Intensive Language Course and Activities in Germany – Special Program for 10th Graders

Maximum progress in minimum time during this workshop exclusively for 10th graders Ages 15–17 – 10th grade

This program is exclusively for students who finish the school year in mid-June and wish to benefit from intensive preparation for their transition to 11th grade. In small groups of 8 to 10 students, participants will follow an educational program focused on acquiring new knowledge, reinforcing foundational skills, and catching up on any missed material. This program can thus have the same impact as several months of German instruction in high school.

Your trip at a glance

  1. 1 or 2 children per family (your choice)
  2. 4 hours of class per day
  3. 8 to 10 students per teacher
  4. A variety of recreational activities (sports, excursions) led in German
  5. Guided tours departing from Paris and Strasbourg

Accommodation

  1. Within a family selected and visited by our local organizers
  2. Your choice: 1 or 2 French students per family (option to stay with a friend)
  3. Families living in residential neighborhoods near the campus
  4. Full board (on weekdays, a packed lunch provided by the family at noon)

Class

  1. Exclusively for students completing their sophomore year
  2. A tailored educational program designed for intensive preparation for entry into11th grade
  3. Reinforcing foundational knowledge and acquiring new concepts, catching up on any gaps in preparation for ongoing assessments
  4. 4 hours of class per day, in the morning
  5. Classes of 8 to 10 students, formed based on a placement test
  6. Intensive, tailored instruction based on the students' needs
  7. Interactive courses for significant improvement in both writing and speaking
  8. Practicing speaking skills to build self-confidence
  9. Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and listening comprehension
  10. Practical exercises, press reviews, discussions, role-playing, etc.
  11. Classes taught by a team consisting of a German teacher and a bilingual teacher, combining different teaching approaches
  12. Submitting a trip report

Lesson 4

Supervision

  1. German and French teachers and facilitators
  2. 1 adult for every 12 children
  3. 1 French staff member on site, available to parents and students
  4. Priorities: progress in German, youth safety and well-being

Activities and Recreation

  1. 5 afternoons of recreational activities per week, conducted in German, such as (depending on the location):

Sports: tennis , swimming, bowling, soccer, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, mini-golf, badminton, etc.
Cultural tours: a tour of Cologne’s “Triangle” and a boat ride, visits to Hamburg, Bonn, or Nuremberg, a cruise on the Elbe, etc.

  1. A one-day excursion to a destination such as Cologne , Bremen, Hamburg, Hanover, or Leipzig, etc.
