Before your language study trip to Spain, LEC continues its Country look at Country and today focuses on one of the Iberian Peninsula’s most famous car manufacturers: Seat!
A solid reputation both within and outside Spain
Although it may seem, in popular culture, less prestigious than BMW or Rolls-Royce—its European counterparts, whose history LEC also shared with you during your language trips to Germany and England— Seat has managed to build a reputation for quality not only within the borders of its Country but also across the rest of Europe.
Will you be passing through Martorell during your language study trip to Spain?
While “Seat” may bring to mind the English translation of “seat,” here it stands for Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo. The brand was founded in May 1950, spearheaded by the Country government and backed by some of the nation’s largest banks. Seat has established its headquarters in the city of Martorell, in Catalonia, a beautiful region that you may have the chance to discover during your language study trip to Spain.
The Seat lineup
Now part of the all-powerful Volkswagen Group, alongside Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Audi, and Porsche, Seat offers a range of city cars (Seat Mii), compact cars (Seat Ibiza), sedans (Seat Toledo), and minivans (Seat Alhambra). Perhaps you’ll have the chance to hop into one of these vehicles during your language study trip to Spain?
