Today, LEC is crossing the Atlantic and taking you far, far away, to the left bank of the Rio Grande, right near the Mexican border: join us for a language study trip to the U.S. might be the perfect opportunity to discover a city with a delightfully Hispanic vibe: El Paso.
A language study trip to one of Texas's largest cities
Along with Dallas, Houston, and Austin—major cities that LEC will be happy to cover in future articles— El Paso is one of Texas’s leading cities and fully deserves its nickname, “Sun City” or “Land of the Sun,” given how much sunshine and warmth its landscape enjoys.
It’s possible to practice both English and Spanish during your language study abroad program!
A language study trip to the U.S. might be the perfect opportunity to discover the welcoming people of Texas’s sixth-largest city. Almost a sister city to Ciudad Juárez, the Mexican metropolis across the river from El Paso, the city—run through by the Franklin Mountains—offers young visitors the chance to practice both their English and Spanish, thanks to its distinctly cosmopolitan character.
El Paso del Norte
Founded in 1659 by Spanish explorers, who named it El Paso del Norte (meaning “The Northern Pass”), the city—which quickly grew from a modest village into a major metropolis—now offers curious visitors an art museum, an archaeology museum, and the University of Texas at El Paso. Among its most famous ambassadors are two prominent figures in popular culture: Don Bluth, the director behind the animated films Charlie and Anastasia, and Gene Roddenberry, the creator of the Star Trek science fiction universe.
