Today, as part of its language study programs in the U.S., LEC takes you across the ocean to the Great Lakes region for a stopover in the heart of a unique state: Michigan. A state in the north-central United States covering an area of 150,780 km² and with a population of 9,883,640 according to the 2010 census, it is divided in two by the lake of the same name, and its vast forests cover half of its land area. When we say Michigan is unique, you can take our word for it!

A language study trip to the U.S. to explore the automotive industry’s flagship

Part of the United States since 1783, the territory of Michigan became a state in 1837. Since then, mining (led by iron) and industrial activities (notably in the automotive, lumber, and paper sectors) in major cities such as Detroit have far surpassed agriculture (grains, soybeans, and sugar beets), which is concentrated primarily in the southern part of the state.

Spend your language study trip in the U.S. surrounded by 11,000 lakes!

For those interested in language study abroad in the U.S., LEC hopes you’ll have the chance to visit the cities of Detroit, Grand Rapids, or even Jackson, each of which has its own share of surprises. These cities serve as true driving forces within a state boasting more than 11,000 lakes! Among the most famous of these bodies of water is Lake Houghton, Michigan’s largest inland lake with an area of 81 km². A popular tourist destination, it offers year-round fishing—a must for enthusiasts!
