Why has our organization decided to tell you about New Jerseytoday? The answer: because it’s one of the states where you might have the chance to stay during your next language study trip to the United States with LEC. Here’s what you need to know about it right away.
A state on the Atlantic coast
From Newark to Trenton
The major cities in New Jersey—key destinations you might have the chance to visit during a language study trip to the United States—are Newark and Jersey City. But make no mistake: the state capital is still Trenton.
History and Geography of New Jersey
New Jersey includes part of the Appalachian Mountains and a section of the coastal plain. Its industries are concentrated around Newark Bay, as well as along the Passaic and Delaware rivers. Annexed by the British in 1664, New Jersey declared its independence in 1776 and ratified the U.S. Constitution in 1787.
A state deeply rooted in popular culture
Today, New Jersey is home to a prestigious university: Princeton, as well as a state celebrated in popular culture: it is mentioned in The Simpsons, How I Met Your Mother, and, of course, The Sopranos, which is set entirely there.
