Middle School Trip to England – Chess Game

English classes, chess, and a variety of activities at a beautiful English school Ages 11–14 / 14–17 – 6th through 11th grade

The Chess-Themed Middle School Program is designed for anyone who wants to study at a superb English middle school and, in addition to three hours of English lessons per day, wishes to practice chess while also enjoying a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities and evening social events.

Accommodation

  2. Comfortable rooms with 1 to 4 beds (and sometimes 4 to 6 beds for younger children)
  3. You can stay with one or more friends
  4. On campus, there are high-quality sports and educational facilities, including green spaces, a gymnasium, sports fields and playgrounds, a swimming pool, a theater, and more (depending on the location).
  5. Modern and comfortable classrooms
  6. Full board with hot meals for lunch and dinner ( on excursion days, packed lunches are provided)

Class

  1. 3 hours of class per day, in the morning
  2. Classes of 12 to 15 students, formed based on a placement test
  3. Interactive courses for significant improvement in both writing and speaking
  4. Practicing speaking skills to build self-confidence
  5. Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and listening comprehension
  6. Practical exercises, press reviews, discussions, role-playing, etc.
  7. Classes taught by a team consisting of an English-speaking teacher and a bilingual teacher, combining a variety of teaching approaches
  8. Sending a trip summary

Supervision

  1. English and French teachers and activity leaders available 24 hours a day
  2. 1 adult for every 12 children
  3. 1 French director on site, available to parents
  4. Priorities: progress in English, youth safety and well-being

Chess and other recreational activities

  1. 3 afternoons per week dedicated to chess, taught in English ( see details below)
  2. 2 to 3 afternoons of recreational activities per week, conducted in English, during which the student chooses what they’d like to do from the following options ( depending on the location):

Sports: tennis, swimming, soccer, dance, volleyball, Olympic-style games, table tennis, golf, cricket, badminton, bowling, etc.
Arts and leisure activities: drawing, escape games, scrapbooking, crafts, etc.
Cultural tours: Oxford or Cambridge University, the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, the Roman Baths in Bath, etc.

  1. One day trip per week, such as: Cambridge, London, Bath, Oxford, Bristol, etc.
  2. Every evening, there are supervised activities such as: LEC parties, karaoke, trivia nights, talent shows, casino parties, giant "Draw and Win" games, BBQ parties, fashion shows, social games, and more.

Theme: Chess Set

  1. 3 sessions of 3 hours each per week, in the afternoon, conducted in English
  2. A program suitable for both beginners and experienced players
  3. Introduction to advanced rules such as en passant, pawn promotion, castling, etc.
  4. Analysis of games played by grandmasters and development of tactical skills through the resolution of thematic problems such as checkmate, fork, pin, en passant, discovered attack, back-rank weakness, etc.
  5. Enhance your strategic understanding by studying all phases of the game (opening, middle game, and endgame) and learn tips on time management, concentration, analyzing your opponents, and more.
  6. Tournaments at the end of the trip
