Study Abroad Program in England – Horseback Riding Option

A harmonious balance between English lessons and horseback riding Ages 11–14 / Ages 14–17 – 6th through 11th grade

This program combines a balanced schedule of English classes with horseback riding. It offers the opportunity to learn English in a unique setting through engaging, age-appropriate lessons, while participating in a recreational program centered on horseback riding.

Your trip at a glance

  1. 1 or 2 children per family(your choice)
  2. 3 hours of class per day

Accommodation

  1. With a family selected and visited by our local organizers
  2. Your choice: 1 or 2 French students per family (option to stay with a friend)
  3. Families living in residential neighborhoods near the campus
  4. Full board (on weekdays, a packed lunch provided by the family at noon)

Class

  1. 3 hours of class per day, in the morning
  2. Classes of 12 to 15 students, formed based on a placement test
  3. Interactive courses for significant improvement in both writing and speaking
  4. Practicing speaking skills to build self-confidence
  5. Grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and listening comprehension
  6. Practical exercises, press reviews, discussions, role-playing, etc.
  7. Classes taught by a team consisting of an English-speaking teacher and a bilingual teacher, combining a variety of teaching approaches
  8. Submitting a trip report

Supervision

  1. English and French teachers and instructors
  2. 1 adult for every 12 children
  3. 1 French staff member on site, available to parents and students
  4. Priorities: progress in English, youth safety and well-being

Activities and Recreation

  1. 6 afternoons of horseback riding, led in English ( see details below)
  2. 2 to 3 afternoons of recreational activities, led in English, such as (depending on the location):

Sports: tennis, swimming, bowling, soccer, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, mini-golf, badminton, etc.
Cultural tours: Oxford or Cambridge University, the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, Canterbury Cathedral, the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, etc.

  1. A one-day excursion, such as to London, Cambridge, Canterbury, or Brighton, etc.
  2. 1 to 2 organized evening events (in certain cities on the itinerary), such as: LEC Party, BBQ party, karaoke, etc.

Horseback Riding Option: Details

  1. 6 two-hour sessions, in the afternoon
  2. A program suitable for both beginners and experienced riders
  3. Lessons at a riding school accredited by the BHS (British Horse Society)
  4. Classes taught in English by certified instructors
  5. Improvements in breeding techniques
  6. Mastery of posture, balance, and the various gaits
  7. Depending on the riders' skill level, indoor or outdoor riding lessons, trail rides through the English countryside, show jumping courses, etc.
  8. Improving your skills in caring for, tending to, and saddling your horse, etc.
