How much pocket money should I give my child for their language study trip?
Please note that the packages offered by LEC are very comprehensive.
Parents should, however, provide their child with pocket money in the currency of the chosen destination country so that the child can cover the following personal expenses:
- personal expenses (drinks, souvenirs, etc.)
- Local transportation: Transportation for students from their family home or residence to the course center and/or to activity sites, outings, and excursions (including local transportation during excursions) is not included in our rates. Please feel free to call us for more detailed information based on the type of stay.
Specific guidance on how much to budget for the student’s personal expenses—based on their age, the country of stay, the duration of the program, and the chosen package—will be provided after registration.
For English summer camps in France, we recommend giving your child pocket money in coins (not bills) so they can use it at the vending machines on campus. They won’t have any other opportunities to spend money, as these camps do not include field trips.

Note: Regardless of the country they are visiting, young people are not accompanied while using local public transportation.
